About Natalie

I’m a web developer living in the Philly suburbs. After relocating to Pennsylvania from Memphis, Tennessee, I realized I wanted a new career where I could put my love of solving puzzles to use. Before switching into tech, I worked in digital marketing and social media for six years. After studying independently on the side, I dedicated three months to learning to code full-time at New York Code & Design Academy in center city Philadelphia.

I'm working hard, breaking things (and fixing them!), learning quickly and always looking for new challenges. Because of my previous experience in marketing, I have a unique perspective when it comes to building websites and experience working closely with project teams to accomplish a shared goal.

Outside of work, I love hiking with my husband, spending my weekend afternoons baking and exploring the Philadelphia area. (PS if you have recommendations for bars that specialize in amazing craft cocktails, let me know!)

Skills include: HTML5, CSS & SASS, Bootstrap, Bulma, JavaScript, Ruby, Sinatra, Ruby on Rails, SQL: SQLite & PostgreSQL, ActiveRecord, API Integration, JSON, Git, GitHub

Recent Projects

Here are a few things I've finished* recently.

Mythical Creatures

A simple yet elegent game of hangman built with JavaScript. One of my earliest projects, and I plan to continue working on it now that I'm more familiar with JavaScript.

MovieNight

Make your next movie night easy! Save movies to your Watch List, create events with friends and vote on the next movie for your movie night! Built using Bootstrap and Ruby on Rails along with the TMDB API (along with some other fun gems!). Final independent project with New York Code and Design Academy.

Bootcamp Overflow

A multi-faceted site inspired by Stack Overflow, this Ruby on Rails application offers current, former and potential bootcamp students a chance to chat about all things web development. Ask and answer questions or share blog posts related to your area of expertise! Final group project with New York Code & Design Academy.

*Projects are never really finished, are they? I'm always coming up with new features to add or ways to refine what I've already written. So just take finished with a grain of salt! 😀
